An Import Export Code, also known as an IEC, is a 10-digit code required for importing or exporting goods and services in India. It's issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and is mandatory for businesses involved in international trade.

How to Apply for IEC

  1. 1. Visit the DGFT website and click on the 'Services' tab
  2. 2. Select 'IEC Profile Management' and then click on 'Apply for IEC'.
  3. 3. Register on the DGFT website and login to apply for IEC
  4. 4. Fill in the general information, details of the proprietor/partner/director/Karta/managing trustee, bank information, and other details.
  5. 5. Attach the Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) and make the payment.
  6. 6. Download the IEC certificate, which will be sent via email.
